New York Divorce Lawyer Jennifer Morton received her Juris Doctorate in May 2007 from Albany Law School at Union University. She served as Executive Editor for Business of the Albany Law Review, and published a case note, “One Nation, Indivisible: American ‘Indian Country’ in the Wake of City of Sherrill v. Oneida Indian Nation,” 70 Albany Law Review.
While at Albany Law School, Jennifer was a member of the American Bar Association National Negotiation Competition team, participated in the Senior Prize Trials, was the founder and chair of the Albany Law School Student Gift Campaign, and was a teaching assistant for Introduction to Lawyering. Jennifer also worked for the Civil Rights & Disabilities Law Project at the Albany Law Clinic & Justice Center, representing special-needs clients in education matters, and she interned with the Honorable David N. Hurd at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, with the Honorable Robert F. Julian at the New York State Supreme Court, Oneida County, and with the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.>
Jennifer’s practice is focused on family and matrimonial law, including trial and appellate matters. Jennifer has been selected by Thompson Reuter’s for the Super Lawyers “Rising Star” list in the area of Family & Matrimonial Law in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Jennifer served on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York from 2009 until 2014, and continues to support the Girl Scouts locally. She is also a 2010 graduate of the Leadership Tech Valley program through the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce. Jennifer is a member of the Albany County Bar Association and the Saratoga County Bar Association. She is also an active supporter of the Albany Fire Department and the Albany Knickerbockers Rugby Football Club.
New York Divorce Lawyer Jennifer Morton received her B.A. magna cum laude, in 2004, from Hamilton College with a concentration in Government and a minor in Theater. While enrolled at Hamilton, Jennifer studied economics and political science at the Stockholm University in Stockholm, Sweden. Among other activities, she was a member of the Gamma Xi sorority, the Hamilton College choir, and Special K (a women’s a cappella group).
Jennifer resides in Albany.
